United Way of Comal County Confirms Allocations for 2021-2022

(Comal County, TX –May 6, 2021) – The United Way of Comal County is pleased to announce its Board of Directors and Allocations Committee, comprised of more than 40 community leaders and volunteers, convened yesterday to confirm funding for the July 2021 – June 2022 cycle.

There is no doubt 2020 was a year like none other. The COVID-19 environment impacted individuals and organizations in an unprecedented way. Life changed – and that resulted in a trying year on the fundraising side too. Not only did organizations who needed funding struggle, but donations to United Way were also impacted. This year’s applicants requested funding totaling more than $866,600. More than $709,000 was awarded in the 2020-2021 cycle. This year, we allocated $629,000, which is a decrease of 15.4 percent compared to our prior year award total. Our community is strong and focused on getting back to some sense of a new normal. “United Way is here to help, and I couldn’t be more proud of the work being done by our United Way board, allocations team, and staff. This team spends countless hours each year on our mission to engage the community and focus on resources for those in need,” commented United Way of Comal County Board President Michelle Miller.

During March and April, ten United Way of Comal County allocations teams met with the area was the culmination of months of work and dedication. “This year’s applicants requested funding of $866,600, and United Way of Comal County funded $629,150 or 73 percent of the requested amount.  When comparing funding to last year’s request of $1,271,430, with United Way of Comal County funding $709,000 or 56 percent of the requested amount. Thirty nonprofit organizations, who are committed to services in the areas of health and healing, youth, meeting emergency needs, and family and seniors, will begin receiving funding on July 1, 2021” said Ed Guillen, Allocations Chair.
